A professional Technocrat and trained in Chemical Engineering with M.B.A. (Marketing) from Jadavpur University, Kolkata having 3 decades of varied industry experience in sales and marketing, business operation and leadership roles, managing SBUs as profit centres and implementing projects for MNCs in India and overseas, working for companies namely Tata Honeywell, Ramco, HCL, Reliance, PCS Tech, National Institute for Smart Government (NISG), Thakral Brothers - Singapore and Government in MSME and Labour Deptts.

Has hands-on experience of 7 years in process industries, 17 years in ICT and over 6 years in Management Consulting covering multifarious industry sectors and clientele in role functions like sales, projects implementation and advisory services.

In 2022, has been inducted into the advisory board of Innovation Council of Jadavpur University and is assisting to facilitate the proposed ambitious collaboration between JU and Carleton University with the assistance of Canada–India Centre of Excellence (CICE).

Have worked with Government as Project Consultant in Labour (2010-11) implementing e-Gov and MMPs and in MSME Deptt. of GoWB (2013-15) handling Industrial Clusters, EoDB framework development with KPMG as TA, organising industry conclaves and implementing MSME projects.

Was a ToC Consultant to Electrosteel Steels in Bokaro, for their EBITDA turnaround project during 2015- 16 before acquisition by Vedanta

A seasoned professional, Debashis has domain experience in core process engineering covering Water resources, Wastewater management, RE (Solar Power) and green technology. In 2021, he was inducted by Graytec USA as Director of Sales, Asia to help them set footprints and setup operation in India to drive the Asian business initiatives of Graytec. He has a vast network in multi-domain industries and connected with the Canadian Trade Commission Services- East & NEast (Govt. of Canada), British Deputy High Commission in Kolkata and Chennai, Austrade-India, NASSCOM, Spring Up Capital, FOSMI and other trade and business chambers in India, LOCCA-UK and International Water Association in London

Debashis was also associated with Neotech Incubation hub of Ambuja Neotia Group in Kolkata handling operation from 2019 till Covid lockdown in 2020. During this tenure he had enriching experience of VC / PE funding and project financing of Startups and SMEs

Debashis is a Life Member of Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (East) and core member of Entrepreneurs’ Committee of the Bengal Chamber and is also associated with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) as industry stakeholder.

MSME is another segment Debashis is closely associated for nearly 9 years now, when he joined MSME Deptt. of Govt. of West Bengal in 2013 as a Project Consultant. Have worked with the National Productivity Council and NIESBUD towards promotion of Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) and Total Quality Management (TQM) training programmes of DC-MSME, GoI and to develop industrial clusters in Bengal. Implemented EoDB framework along with KPMG for Government of Bengal during 2014 -15.
